PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS

The NCFs Professional Advisors council is composed of local attorneys, accountants as well as insurance and financial advisors who have helped their clients realize their charitable dreams and invest in the Northshore region in a way that's meaningful to them.

FIELD OF INTEREST FUNDS

Through a Field of Interest Fund, donors can support specific areas of concern. The NCF will make grants to the most appropriate and effective organizations within the donor’s chosen field of interest.

You can support evolving needs and a variety of nonprofits by focusing on a broad area of interest that is nearest and dearest to your heart.

  • Fund created to support a particular area of interest, i.e. arts, environment, education or geographic area(s)

  • Parameters of giving created by donor when fund is established
  • A nominal fee to Northshore Community Foundation for administration, an amount that goes back into the community for greater good

SCHOLARSHIP FUNDS

Through a scholarship fund at the NCF, you can help students pursue their educational dreams. You may choose to award a scholarship to students attending your alma mater, studying a subject you care about, or both.

You can help students pursue their educational dreams with a scholarship fund. These funds are often created in memory of someone and can be used to support educational opportunities, a specific educational institution, or a course of study. Scholarship donors receive an added value by accessing our online database of scholarship funds that is available to the community and helps applicants easily learn about the scholarships they may be qualified to receive.

  • Provide for tuition, room and board to college or university students

  • Foundation staff will help donors develop criteria and selection process, which are determined when the fund is established; IRS regulations mandate that donors and their relatives cannot solely decide who receives the scholarship

  • Donors may sit on a committee to select scholarship recipients as long as they do not have a majority vote

  • Foundation handles all paperwork, applications, selection committee meetings and notification

  • Foundation monitors and tracks performance of recipients
  • 2% fee to Northshore Community Foundation for administration, an amount that goes back into the community for greater good

AGENCY/ORGANIZATION FUNDS

Donors and nonprofit organizations can create an endowment fund to protect charitable dollars and provide a stable, predictable source of income for the organization. Such funds can provide annual support for the organization.

Through an Organization Endowment Fund, charities can set aside funds for specific programming, security against unforeseen hurdles, planned growth, or as an investment strategy.

  • Fund created by another nonprofit organization

  • Assets of another organization are held and managed by the Foundation. These dollars are reflected as both an asset and a liability of the Foundation, as the organization can withdraw the funds at will

  • Offered as a service to the nonprofit community in our region to leverage their resources for the greater good
  • 0.5% fee to Northshore Community Foundation for administration, an amount that goes back into the community for greater good

DESIGNATED BENEFICIARY FUNDS

Perhaps through volunteering, support of annual fund drives, or a personal interest you’ve developed a passion for specific nonprofit programs or initiatives.

If you want to support a specific organization or organizations during your lifetime or endow your giving, a designated fund allows you to choose a charitable group to benefit from your fund. This type of fund ensures that the organizations you select will receive support regularly over a long period of time.
